The work was commissioned, on the initiative of Antoni Wit, by the Warsaw Philharmonic to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Witold Lutosławski. It is dedicated to His memory. The first performance took place at the official opening of the Lutosławski Year on 25th January 2013 at the Warsaw Philharmonic, played by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra directed by Antoni Wit.
