An electronic piece in which reflection on prolonged duration and minimalist form is updated thanks to the means of improvised music. Drawing on traditions of musical and visual minimalism (La Monte Young, Éliane Radigue, Eleh, Kazimir Malevich, Mark Rothko, Ad Reinhardt), Edgars Rubenis creates his composition, using reduced and abstracted drone/ambient music, and investigates the personal spaces that become available through musically “unhinged” temporalities. Abstraction and reduction are something more than mere aesthetic choices—their role is to be “makers of space” and “shifters of time.”
