Lévy, Daniel
After studies at the École Supérieure d’Art Dramatique de Strasbourg from 1989 to 1991, Daniel Lévy met Georges Aperghis, with whom he works on a regular basis, including projects such as La baraque Foraine (Strasbourg, 1990), H (Nanterre, 1992), Sextuor (Nanterre, 1993), Tourbillons(Nanterre, 1995, new version at Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy, 2004), Zwielicht (Munich, 1999), Machinations (Witten, 2000), Entre chien et loup (Nancy, 2002, new version in Lyon, 2006), Zeugen (Bern, 2007), and Luna Park (2011). From 1996, he cocreated the projects of Frédéric Fisbach: L’Annonce faite à Marie by Paul Claudel (1997), Un avenir qui commence tout de suite by Vladimir Mayakovsky (1997), L’Île des morts by August Strindberg (1998), Le Gardien de tombeau by Franz Kafka (1999), Nous les héros by Jean-Luc Lagarce (1999), Tokyo Notes by Oriza Hirata (2000), Béréniceby Jean Racine (2001), Les Paravents by Jean Genet (2002), Agrippineby Handel (2003), L’illusion comique by Jean Corneille (2004), Animal by Roland Fichet (2005), Gens de Séoul by Oriza Hirata (2005), and Feuillets d’Hypnos by René Char (2007).
Since 2003, he has worked with the director Irène Bonnaud on Tracteursby Heiner Müller (2003), Lenz by Georg Büchner (2004), Music Hall 56 by John Osbourne (2007), Prince Travesty by Marivaux (2008), Fanny by Marcel Pagnol (2009), La charrue et les étoiles by Sean O’ Casey (2009), Les Troqueurs by Antoine Dauvergne (2009), Kurt Weill – New York by Kurt Weill (2010), and Soleil couchant by Isaac Babel (2011). He creates lighting, sets, and videos for musical performances by Emily Loizeau, Arthur H, Paris Combo, Garage Rigaud, and Gianmaria Testa. Daniel Lévy has also worked on projects by Patrick Pineau, Françoise Rivalland (for SIC ensemble), Gérard Cherqui, Valérie Joly, Michel Didym, Anita Picchiarini, Ingrid von Wantoch Rekowski, Édouard Reichenbach, Tomeo Verges, Jean-François Peyret, Edith Scob, Emilio Calcagno, Carlo Carcano, Collectif Foucault 71, l’ensemble Ars Nova, Gérard Pesson, T&M – Antoine Gindt, and Caroline Gautier.
