Rosenberger, Katharina
Swiss composer. Much of her work manifests itself in an interdisciplinary context and challenges traditional performance practice in terms of how sound is produced, heard, and seen. Her compositions, installations, and interdisciplinary operas have been featured at festivals such as the Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik, KunstFestSpielen Herrenhausen, Heroines of Sound Berlin, Lucerne Festival, Tage für Neue Musik Z rich, Journées Contemporaines in Basel, Festival Archipel in Geneva, Festival reMusik in Saint Petersburg, Felicja Blumental Festival in Tel Aviv, Shanghai New Music Days, October Contemporary Festival in Hong Kong, as well as in many concert series throughout Europe and the United States.
She is a recipient of the 2019 Guggenheim Fellowship. She has also been awarded the Hellman Fellowship in San Francisco, Sony Scholar Award, and Ernst von Siemens Foundation Commission for her composition Gesang an das noch namenlose Land. Her installations VIVA VOCE and Room V won the Mediaprojects Award / Sitemapping of the Swiss Federal Agency (OFC) in Bern. Her portrait CD Texturen with the Wet Ink Ensemble, released by HatHut Records, was awarded the prestigious Copland Recording Grant and selected for the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik, Bestenliste 4 in 2012.
Katharina Rosenberger is a Professor at the University of California in San Diego, where she teaches composition and sound installation art. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Columbia University, New York.
