Sydorenko (Sidorenko), Lubava

Born in 1979 in Lviv, she graduated from Yuri Laniuk's composition class at the M. Lysenko National Music Academy in Lviv. During her studies she received scholarships from the President of Ukraine as well as the Oleh Krysa Scholarship. She twice won the Gradus ad Parnassum international competition for composers in Kyiv (2001, 2003). Her other accolades include the M. Revutsky Prize (2007) and B. Lyatoshinsky Prize (2015).

Her compositions are regularly performed at music festivals and events in Ukraine and abroad, such as the Warsaw Autumn, Cracow's Velvet Curtain, Cologne's Rostrum of Contemporary Women- Composers, Lviv's Contrasts, Kyiv's Premieres of the Season and Music Feast, Odessa's Two Days and Nights of New Music, and others. In 2004 the Swiss publisher Sordino concluded a contract with Lubava Sidorenko to publish her chamber works. In 2005 she was an intern at Cracow's Music Academy (Zbigniew Bujarski's class of composition) as part of the Gaude Polonia scholarship programme of the Polish Ministry of Culture. She also received a grant from Ernst von Siemens Foundation for a composer commission carried out by the Friends of the Warsaw Autumn Foundation. In 2006 the Bamberg Symphony recorded her symphony Ab initio, a Bavarian Radio commission.
