Magdalena Bojanowicz (cello) and Maciej Frąckiewicz (accordion) are winners of the Polityka Passport award for their “mature and expressive interpretations of modern music and beyond; for their courage, risk-taking, and consistency; for building a wide repertoire; for their concerts, their imagination-triggering expressive power.”
The musicians have been working together since 2007 and have won the highest accolades at prestigious music competitions, including the 1st Prize at the International Accordion Meetings in Sanok, Poland (2008), 2nd Prize at the Klingenthal Accordion Competition (2008), and Special Prize for most promising Polish artist at the International Modern Chamber Music Competition in Cracow (2010). The Duo has also obtained the prestigious Polish Minister of Culture’s Young Poland scholarship for its 2012 CD with the works of modern Polish composers, Satin. The record was nominated for the 2013 Fryderyk Awards as Best Polish Music Record and Modern Music Album of the Year.
The Duo has performed in Thonon-les-Bains, Vilnius Philharmonic, Polish Institute in Prague, as well as at festivals such as Wrocław’s Musica Polonica Nova, Cracow’s Polish Music Festival, Łódź Philharmonic contem.ucha concert cycle, Warsaw Autumn, Gdańsk Music Festival, Ogrody Polityki, Poznań Music Spring, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki Festival in Cracow, and Latvian New Music Days in Riga.
