The musicians of the duo – Magdalena Bojanowicz, cello and Maciej Frąckiewicz, accordion – have been granted the prestigious Passport Award of the “Polityka” weekly “for their highly mature and expressive interpretations of contemporary and other kinds of music; for their courage, risk-taking and consistency; for building up a repertoire; for their concert creations, inspiring our imagination, and for their force of persuasion”.
The two musicians have worked together since 2007, winning top prizes in prestigious competitions: the 1st Prize in the International Sanok Accordion Encounters (2008), 2nd Prize at the International Accordion Competition in Klingenthal (2008), and Special Award for the Most Promising Polish Artist at the International Contemporary Chamber Music Competition in Cracow (2010). For their CD Satin (released in 2012) with music by contemporary Polish composers, the duo has also received the prestigious Young Poland scholarship from the Polish Minister of Culture.
Recently the duo has appeared at the Musica Polonica Nova Festival in Wrocław (2010), Polish Music Festival in Cracow (2011), Warsaw Autumn (2012), contem.ucha at the Łódź Philharmonic (2010), Thonon-les-Bains, France (2010), Vilnius Philharmonic (2010) and the Polish Institute in Prague (2011). In September 2012, they performed works by Matthias Pintscher, Adriana Hölszky and Wojciech Blecharz at the Warsaw Autumn Festival.
