Born in 1982 in Slovenia, she studied composition at the Ljubljana Academy of Music (under Pavel Mihelčič). In 2005–07, she completed a post-graduate programme under Lothar Voigtländer at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden, and in 2007–2008 – under Matthias Pintscher at the Munich Academy of Music and Theatre.

Her Violin Concerto No. 1 was performed at the Young Euro Classic Festival 2004 and was awarded 1st prize. At the 2008 Weimar Spring Festival, her piece Movimento fluido won the chamber music competition. In the 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 seasons, she was composer-in-residence at the Cottbus State Theatre, for which she composed her second violin concerto as well as the orchestral work Echo II und Schnitt für Saxophon und Ensemble. Her piece ...glitzert, flimmert, vergeht... for soprano and large ensemble was composed for the New Music network European Instrumental Laboratory and performed in 2010 by the ensembles Slowind, Aleph and Altera veritas in Slovenia, France and Latvia. Nina Šenk lives in Germany and Slovenia as a freelance composer.
