Pieniek Grzegorz

 

Born in 1982, he studied composition with Lidia Zielińska at the Music Academy in Poznań, and in 2008–09 took a Postgraduate Diploma in Composition with Michael Jarrell at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.

He has received several prizes in national and international composition competitions, including the “Crescendo” National Young Composers’ Competition (2001, Grand Prix), Tadeusz Baird National Composition Competition (2006, honorable mention), Concurso Internacional de Miniaturas Electroacústicas (2007, finalist), Artur Malawski National Composition Competition (2008, honorable mention), and the Theodor Körner Award (2011). He has also received scholarships from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (Młoda Polska, 2009), Adam Mickiewicz Institute (2009) and the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation (2011).

His works have been performed at music festivals and concerts in Europe and Asia, including the Warsaw Autumn Festival, Poznań Spring, Ny Musik Uge (Denmark), Festival Synthèse (France), Punto de Encuentro (Spain), Wiener Frühlingsfestival, Wien Modern, Druskomanija (Lithuania), Festival Internazionale di Musica Elettroacustica del Conservatorio Santa Cecilia, Festival Eterotopie (Italy), Musicacoustica Beijing.
