Furrer Eva
singer and flutist. She studied at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where she graduated with honours from the class of Wolfgang Schulz in 1988. Immediately afterwards she received a prize from the Ministry of Sciences and Research in appreciation of her special artistic achievements. After working with orchestras (Wiener Staats Oper, Wiener Kammerorchester, Radiosinfonieorchester Wien) for several years, she specialised in contemporary music and became a member of Klangforum Wien in 1990.
She has performed as a soloist at the most important international music festivals, with orchestras including the Tonhalle Orchester Zurich, RSO Wien and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra with conductors such as Sylvain Cambreling, Peter Eötvös, Beat Furrer, Heinz Holliger and Hans Zender. Moreover, Eva Furrer is very involved with improvisation, the development of new flute techniques on special instruments such as the contrabass flute, as well as yoga for instrumentalists and composers. She is a founding member and lecturer of Impuls – International Ensemble and Composers Academy for Contemporary Music at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts, Graz and also teaching at the International Summer Courses for New Music Darmstadt.
