Dahlqvist Jörgen
is a playwright and stage director. Since 2003 he has been artistic director of the Weimar Theatre in Malmö, which he also founded. He has authored more than 20 stage and radio plays, many of which he has also staged and directed himself. He has worked with numerous theatre institutions. To date, the Weimar Theatre has produced around 50 premieres. Many of the plays introduced on that stage were consequently invited as guest performances to theatres in Sweden and abroad, including Belgium, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland.
During the years 2009–12 Jörgen Dahlqvist was director of one of the institutes at the Theatre Academy in Malmö; he also teaches drama and methodology of drama there. Since 2011 he has chaired the board of Inkonst, the international stage for guest performances, in Malmö. He also initiated the establishment of Radiowy, the first free stage for stage plays, radio and sound art. His other activities include involvement in the Jena Press publishing company, which focuses on literature devoted to stage works and contemporary drama.
