Górczyński Michał
Graduate of the Music Academy in Warsaw. Since 1998 he has been composing music for various sets of instruments (Diversity for two bassoons and clarinet, Rondo à la krakowiakfor screaming pianist and bass clarinet, Painting for two clarinets, bassoon, double bass and singing, Suite in Jewish Style for clarinet, violin and double bass, as well as cycles of works inspired by the languages of the world for violin, clarinet and cello) and music for the theatre (some 25 productions for drama and puppet theatres). He is actively involved in improvising and interpreting contemporary music, appearing as a soloist with such ensembles as de ereprijs, Silesian String Quartet, AUKSO orchestra and the orchestra of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic. Participating in the International Courses for New Music in Darmstadt, he presented his authorial performance techniques on a bass clarinet. He has created installations and written texts on the subject of authorial theories, radio programmes and underground films. Since 2002 he has been part of the Kwartludium ensemble, which specialises in performances of contemporary music. Since 2008 he has been working on extending the sound potential of the bass clarinet, having been inspired by the beat box and working together with one of the best Polish beatboxers, Tik Tak (Patryk Matela). He has created the concept of “composed education”. He is a recipient of scholarship of the City of Warsaw and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of a programme for creating alternative educational textbooks. Within the framework of educational projects he has collaborated with such organisations as the Theatre Institute, Nowy Wspaniały Świat, Utu Foundation, Pogranicze Foundation, the House of Creative Art in Wigry, Literature Museum in Warsaw, Music Academy in Freiburg im Breisgau, Music University in Warsaw, and the Rozmaitości Theatre in Warsaw, presenting his authorial ideas for music workshops.
