W malarstwie – najskrajniej jasna, achromatyczna barwa, aż po absolutną świetlistość, pozbawiona cienia i szarości. Biel symbolizuje między innymi gniew, szał. Alba to końcowy ustęp tryptyku koncertów instrumentalnych: Still, Void i Alba. Każdy z tych tytułów określa kondycję, stan bądź brak w odniesieniu do – odpowiednio – dźwięku, przestrzeni i barwy. Wszystkie utwory oparte są na tekstach Samuela Becketta. 

Alba, zaczerpnięta ze zbioru Echo’s Bones tego poety, to wiersz intensywnie liryczny. Beckett waży tu każde słowo, jego cień i echo. Wiersz kończy się zapowiedzią krótkich, intensywnych tekstów prozatorskich, które Beckett stworzył pod koniec życia – prozy oczyszczonej niemal do samych kości, zarazem bezlitośnie bezpośredniej i wspaniale delikatnej.
