Palester from the archives of the Polish Composers Union

Roman Palester – one of the leading Polish composers of the twentieth century, almost completely forgotten for political reasons (he emigrated from Poland and worked at Radio Free Europe in Munich). His output was strictly banned in Poland until 1977 (only during the political thaw in 1958 was his Symphony no. 4 performed at the 2nd Warsaw Autumn Festival and his Requiem, at the Warsaw Philharmonic). Later his music received sporadic performances, mostly at Warsaw Autumn. Only a very small part of his output has been recorded so far, which makes it virtually impossible to assess and appreciate it in full. The CD presented here is the second one dedicated exclusivelyto Palester’s symphonic music, released by the Fifth Essence Foundation.
