Przybylski, Dariusz
Born in 1984, in 2008 he graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music from the composition class of Marcin Błażewicz and the organ class of Andrzej Chorosiński. He also studied in Cologne, Karlsruhe and Frankfurt. In 2016 he was awarded a post-doctoral degree. He has received commissions notably from the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Ensemble Modern, Warsaw Chamber Opera, Poznań Opera, Ludwig van Beethoven Society, National Forum of Music as well as philharmonic orchestras from Poznań, Gorzów, and Kalisz. He lectures in composition at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. He gave guest lectures in New York, Hamburg, Rome, Istanbul, Minsk, and Moscow, and in the 2010/11 academic year he taught composition at the Keimyung University in Daegu. He has received numerous scholarships notably from the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage, National Centre for Culture, DAAD, Deutsche Bank Foundation under the Akademie Musiktheater Heute programme, Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie 2012/13, and Kunststiftung NRW 2013, as well as receiving prizes at national and international competitions for composers. He was nominated for the Passport Award of the Polityka weekly in 2014, and Coryphaeus Award in 2015 and 2018. In 2018 he won the Fryderyk Award for the album Already It Is Dusk (Requiem Records). He was composer-in-residence with Ensemble Phønix16 (Berlin, 2012/13) and Gorzów Philharmonic (2015/16). He curated the Opus Series, a collection of contemporary music released by Requiem Records, and the Music of Our Time programme. He is a member of the Polish Composers’ Union, Polish Society for Contemporary Music, and Society of Authors ZAiKS.
