Śniady, Marta

Born in 1986 in Pabianice, she currently works in Łódź and Wrocław. In 2010 she graduated with distinction from the composition class of Bronisław Kazimierz Przybylski at the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź. She has participated in numerous courses, including the International Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt and the International Summer Course in Composition in Radziejowice, working with composers such as Simon Steen-Andersen, Chaya Czernowin, Jennifer Walshe, and Rebecca Saunders.

In her work Marta Śniady follows a vision of music drawing on various forms of art. She believes that new music is an important medium of social communication, which is why she does not treat it as pure sound art, but works on building multilayered references and links. These ideas are reflected in her compositions, which have been presented at several important national and international festivals of contemporary music, such as Warsaw Autumn, Sacrum Profanum, Musica Electronica Nova, Frau Musica (nova), Pulsar Festival, and Klang Festival. She has collaborated with ensembles and performers such as Ensemble Garage, Scenatet, Kwartludium, ElettroVoce, Spółdzielnia Muzyczna, Contemporary Ensemble, Esbjerg Ensemble, New Music Orchestra, Duo van Vliet, and many others.

In 2016 she began a postgraduate programme in composition under Simon Steen-Andersen and Niels Rønsholdt at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus. In 2015 she obtained a doctoral degree in composition from the Academy of Music in Łódź, where she currently teaches.
