3rd phase -
Wojtek Blecharz
is the fourth act of the opera-installation Transcryptum, commissioned by the Grand Theatre - National Opera in Warsaw, in which the public, divided into five groups led by guides, explores normally inaccessible nooks of the opera theatre. Transcryptum puts the spectator in the middle of a chaotic, fragmented, and traumatic memory of the opera's protagonist, with the task of making a logical whole out of it. 3rd phase was originally composed for performance in one of the long narrow high corridors of Warsaw's national opera, with its special resonance and very long fading time. During the performance, the audience is seated along the corridor's wall, and accordionists are placed at the two ends. The work's title refers to the five phases of mourning, and more specifically to the "negotiating" phase: what would happen if I could reverse time and act differently...
The work continues my cooperation with Maciej Frąckiewicz.
