Pierre Boulez – Demiurge of new music (scholarly conference and concert)
Pierre Boulez, one of the most eminent musicians of our time, whom we have metaphorically called the “demiurge” of new music, passed away in 2016. Our conference takes a closer look at his versatile artistic life and work in the fields of composition, conducting, writing, education, as well as in his functions as head of institutions such as IRCAM and as an organiser of cultural life. The conference shows Boulez in many humanist contexts, and discusses his achievements as presented by contemporary researchers, musicians, composers, and conductors.
