Zheng, Yang
Born in 1992, she studied the sheng under Yang Shou Cheng and currently pursues a master's degree in the instrument at the Central Conservatoire of Music in Beijing. She has been the principal sheng player of the Central Conservatoire of Music Chinese Orchestra, performing in Japan, Canada, the United States, and Europe. She is also a member of the De Yin Ensemble and Young Ensemble, promoting contemporary music in China. She has premiered and recorded many works for sheng including Yang Qing's Memory of Tashihunpo Monastery.
She performs with ensembles such as E-max, Zafraan, Windkra , Little Giant Chinese Chamber Orchestra, and Ding Yi, appearing at festivals including the Chinese Wind Music Week, Central Conservatoire's Outstanding Students Concert, and Gotlands Music.
Her awards include the Chinese Folk Music Category Showcase Competition (2013), National Youth Chinese Instrument Competition (2014), Hong Fu Cup and gold medals in three categories at the Sheng International Cultural Festival (2016).
