Filidei, Francesco
Born in 1973 in Pisa, he studied at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatoire in Florence and the CNS de Paris. In 2000 he completed the composition and music technology course at IRCAM and in 2004, the Voix Nouvelles in Royaumont.
In 2006 he received the City of Salzburg Förderpreis, was commended by the IRCAM Reading Panel, and was in residence at the Academy Schloss Solitude. In 2007 he won the Takefu International Prize and became resident member of the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid. In 2009 he obtained the Carl von Siemens Foundation Förderpreis and in 2010, was professor of composition in Royaumont, Iowa University, and Takefu Academy. He won the Picasso-Miró UNESCO Medal in 2011 and the Villa Medicis residency in 2012. In 2015 he held a DAAD residency in Berlin. In 2016 he was made Chevalier of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
He has been invited to important festivals such as Darmstadt, Donaueschingen, Wien Modern, Musica Strasbourg, Venice Biennale, Milano Musica, Printemps des Arts in Monaco, IRCAM's Agora, Mata Festival in New York, and Huddersfield. As a composer and organist he has been recorded by Radio Tre, RadioFrance, SWR, and RSR. His works are published by RAI Trade and performed by ensembles such as 2E2M, Musikfabrik, Linea, Itinéraire, Alter Ego, Ensemble intercontemporain, Les Percussions de Strasbourg, Klangforum Wien, Recherche, Ascolta, Next Mushroom Promotion, Ars Ludi, Ictus, Neue Vocalsolisten, OSN RAI, WDR, SWR, and Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.
