Kolomiiets, Maxim

Born in 1981 in Kyiv, composer, oboist, music curator. He graduated from the National Music Academy of Ukraine as an oboist (2005) and as a composer (2009) and from the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne in the composition class of Johannes Schöllhorn (2016). He took part in International Young Composers Academy in Tchaikovsky City (2013) and masterclasses with Ensemble Musikfabrik. He has won awards at the Gradus ad Parnassum competition in Kyiv (2000), Step to the Le in St Petersburg (2012), and the 3rd Prize at Vareler Kompositionspreis in Oldenburg, Germany (2015). He has performed at many Ukrainian and international festivals and masterclasses, including historically informed performances with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra (2007) and contemporary music with Ensemble Recherche (2007, 2008), Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt (2010), impuls academy in Graz (2011), and Per Suonare l'Oboe in Freiburg i. Br. (2011). As an oboe soloist, he has played with such ensembles as Kyiv Soloists, Musica Camerata and Russian Chamber Philharmonic. He has participated in masterclasses in Montepulciano with Johannes Schöllhorn (oboe), Florence Millet (composition), and Werner Dickel (conducting) in Montepulciano (2015), and with Luigi Gaggiero in Kyiv (2016). His music has been performed at the festivals including MATA (New York), Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt, New Talents (Cologne), Donaueschinger Musiktage, Warsaw Autumn, World Music Days (Leuven), Other Space (Moscow), Gogolfest (Kyiv), Contrasts (Lviv), Randfestspiele (Zepernick) by Ensemble Musikfabrik (Cologne), Ascolta (Stuttgart), Lions Gate Trio (USA and Europe), Neo Quartet (Gdańsk), Ukho Ensemble (Kyiv) , National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, Kyiv Chamber Orchestra, Syrinx Flute Quartet (Moscow), Ensemble Nostri Temporis (Kyiv), GAM-Ensemble (Moscow), Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, Vladislav Pesin, Ian Pace, Helen Beldsoe, and Hayk Melikyan. Since 2015 he is the oboe soloist of the contemporary music Ukho Ensemble (Kyiv). He is the cofounder of Ensemble Nostri Temporis and the ancient music Luna Ensemble. Since 2017 he is the music curator of Gogolfest.
