Sławecki, Michał
He graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Music University in Warsaw after studies with Artur Stefanowicz. He also attended masterclasses notably with Paul Esswood, Michael Chance, James Oxley, Jadwiga Rappé, Anna Radziejewska, and Olga Pasichnyk. As a student he made his stage debut as Prince Orlofsky in Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus at the Castle Opera in Szczecin, and as Nero in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea at the Collegium Nobilium Theatre in Warsaw. He has also sung at the Warsaw, Szczecin, Gdańsk, and Bytom philharmonics, Polski Theatre in Warsaw, Grand Theatre – National Opera in Warsaw, Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, and the Teatru Manoel in Malta, as well as in Lithuania, Latvia, Italy, France, Germany, Greece, Austria, Kazakhstan, Serbia, and South Africa.
His concert repertoire encompasses a wide range of works from the baroque to contemporary. His operatic roles include The Witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Sextus in Handel’s Giulio Cesare, Prince Orlofsky in Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, Nero in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, the title role in Handel’s Rinaldo, Nero in Handel’s Agrippina, The Angel in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, Cherubino in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, and the title part in Sławomir Kupczak’s Voyager.
He regularly cooperates with leading composers; he notably sang Paweł Mykietyn’s Shakespeare’s Sonnets in Rome (Corso Polonia / Festival delle Arti Unite), Malta (Teatru Manoel, Concert of Polish Contemporary Music Masters), Freiburg (Post Fine Arts), Lviv (Contemporary Music Festival), and South Africa (National Arts Festival 2015). He also took part in premiere performances of Bartosz Chajdecki’s Missa Assumptionis (with the Gdańsk Philharmonic Orchestra under Piotr Sułkowski), Andrzej Zarycki’s The Polish Golgotha (recorded by the Polish TV), works by Sebastian Krajewski (with Ars Nova in Warsaw, recorded by Polish Radio), and Maciej Zieliński (during the concert Calenda Nova with AUKSO Orchestra under Marek Moś, recorded by Polish TV).
