Born in 1946. Film, TV and theatre director, screenwriter, playwright and fiction author, including books for children; professor at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Warsaw where he served three terms as Dean of Directing Department. He has directed more than 100 stage productions including such hits as Shirley Valentine, Tamara, and Love in the Crimea, twenty plays for the Polish Television Drama Series, five feature films and more than 200 episodes of TV series.
Author of bestselling children’s books including Bromba and Others, Antycyponek, Euphemia’s 13th Feather, Mystery of the Marabou’s Cipher, Synthesis, Saga of the Claptunes, Bromba and Philosophy, Bromba and Psychology, Bromba and Fikander’s Authors’ Evening. He illustrates his own books for children. Director of the Polish version of the TV sitcom The Honeymooners, as well as such films as Louise’s Garden, Holy Business, Fiery Angel, and Synthesis.
His accolades include the Italian Premio Europeo, Commission of National Education Medal, Officer’s Cross and Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, Golden Screen, Gloria Artis, Leon Schiller Award, and the City of Wrocław Award for his theatrical work. He is a Knight of the Order of the Smile.
