Nahajowski, Marek

Born in 1979, music theorist and flutist playing on copies of historical instruments. He has graduated in music theory with Ryszard Daniel Golianek (Łódź 2003) and recorder in the class of Tomasz Dobrzański (Wrocław 2007). Since 2010 he has been senior lecturer at the Music Theory Department of the Bacewicz Music Academy in Łódź, running classes in baroque history and performance practice, as well as the recorder class since 2011. He authored the first Polish translation of Johann Joachim Quantz’s treatise Versuch einer Anweisung die Flöte traversiere zu spielen (Polish title O zasadach gry na flecie poprzecznym, Łódź 2012) and a PhD dissertation on Quantz’s flute sonatas (Łódź 2013), which won the prestigious Hieronim Feicht Award. His scientific research focuses on the hermeneutic interpretation of music from the 16th to the 18th century as well as the aesthetics and performance practice of baroque and classical music. As a performer, he has cooperated with numerous ancient music ensembles such as Il Tempo, Ars Cantus, Umbraculum, and St. Louis’s Club. He is also active as a guest lecturer at ancient music performance courses. In 2014, his solo CD was published with the flute fantasias of Georg Philipp Telemann (RecArt).
