Born in 1960 in Lisbon. Since 1998 she has worked as Art Director for music theatre performances. Together with Miguel Azguime she has been shaping and developing original approaches towards opera. As a contemporary video artist, she focuses her research on proliferate emotions out of the relations created upon sound, text, electronics, and processed images, binding her artistic expression to the metaphysical realm of each performance. Since 1985 as composer and performer of the Miso Ensemble, she has created an original repertoire for flute, percussion and live electronics.
Paula Azguime is also engaged in various initiatives connected with the civic and social impact of art, as director of Miso Music Portugal and the Portuguese Music Research and Information Centre, where she actively develops and promotes research, creation, production and circulation of Portuguese New Music.
