Bojanowicz Magdalena
She first studied under Andrzej Orkisz, and in 2010 graduated with distinction from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw in the cello class of Andrzej Bauer. At present she is continuing her studies at postgraduate level. She has perfected her skills at masterclasses in Brussels, Salzburg, Pineswang (Austria) and Kronberg (Germany), under such cello masters as Julius Berger, Phillippe Muller, Claus Reichardt, Victoria Yagling, Kazimierz Michalik and Arto Noras.
She has been awarded scholarships by the National Children’s Fund (2001– 08) and by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (on four occasions). In 2009 she won the prestigious Young Poland scholarship, awarded to her for a recording of Polish contemporary music (in a duet with Maciej Frąckiewicz). Magdalena took part in the event “My Talent for Poland” organised by the President of Poland, Lech Kaczyński, in 2006. She has appeared as a soloist with the orchestras of the National Philharmonic, Rzeszów, Zielona Góra, Łódź and Lower Silesia, under the baton of such conductors as Tadeusz Wojciechowski, Jerzy Kosek, Michał Nesterowicz and Paweł Przytocki.
Her accolades include the 1st Prize at the 20th- and 21st-Century Music Competition for Young Performers (2005), 1st Prize at the International Cello Competition in Liezen (Austria 2006), 2nd Prize at the Beethoven International Cello Competition in Hradec, Czech Republic (2010), 2nd Prize and two special prizes at the Witold Lutosławski International Competition in Warsaw (2011). She was received the 3rd Prize at the 1st Krzysztof Penderecki International Cello Competition in Cracow (2008), and was semi-finalist in prestigious cello competitions: the Gaspar Cassadó International Cello Competition in Tokyo (2009) and the Dr Luis Sigall International Competition in Chile (2011).
She is a member of the Warsaw Cellonet group, led by Andrzej Bauer.
