Bui-Ngoc Julia
Born in Nice in 1984. She studied at the Ballet School in Łódź. In 2006 she obtained a diploma of the Gardzienice Theatrical Practice Centre. During the five years she worked there, she performed on stage and run workshops for both Polish and foreign groups, including at the Columbia University in New York City, Yale University, the LaMaMa Theatre (New York), Hebbel Theatre (Berlin), Moscow’s Meyerhold Centre, Barbican Centre (London) and at Sikyon (Greece) and Brussels. In 2008 she established a school of dancing with war fans. She has on several occasions won the French championship in Chinese martial arts (kung-fu wu-shu). She has also worked as a theatrical choreographer as well as for video clips and full-time fiction movies. In 2011 she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the Sculpture Department, multimedia workshop.
She is the author of many video works and theatrical performances in Poland and abroad. Her short motion movie Lucid Dream (2011) obtained the 2nd Prize at the Off Plus Camera festival in Cracow. She has also authored other projects in the field of video art: Ariadna (exhibition at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw, 2011) and Obszar (Area) (exhibited at the Prague Quadrennial in the National Museum in Prague, 2011).
