ENSEMBLE EXPERIMENTAL
Founded in 2009, Ensemble Experimental is attached to the Experimentalstudio des SWR in Freiburg in Breisgau and views itself as an instrumental research group for music with live electronics. Its members have been associated with the Experimentalstudio as soloists for decades, while some, such as Luigi Nono’s co-worker Roberto Fabbriciani, participate in the early stages of composition in the electronic studio. They attempt with special commitment to do justice to the rehearsal and concert conditions specific to advanced live electronic music. Apart from its regular appearances within the Matrix cycle and at the ars-nova SWR concerts, the ensemble has given concerts in Austria, Slovenia, Norway and the Netherlands. A series of recordings is published on CD with the Neos label. A recording of Luigi Nono’s Risonanze erranti has received the coveted German Music Critics’ Award. The artistic director and first conductor of the ensemble is Detlef Heusinger.
