Wierus Grzegorz
was born in 1978 in Olkusz. He graduated with distinction in conducting from the Music Academy in Cracow in the class of Tomasz Bugaj, as well as completing architectonic studies. Since 2010 he has been assistant conductor at the A. Rubinstein Philharmonic in Łódź. He gives regular concerts with the Łódź Philharmonic Orchestra, conducting, among other performances, an authorial cycle of family concerts under the titleFilharmonia: o co tyle hałasu!? (The Philharmonic: what’s all that fuss about!?). He has also conducted such ensembles as the Cracow Philharmonic, the Orchestra and Choir of the Music Academy in Cracow, Beethoven Academy Orchestra, and Polish Chamber Philharmonic in Sopot. He regularly collaborates with Ensemble Nostri Temporis, a contemporary music ensemble from Kyiv; he is also a co-founder of the vocal-instrumental ensemble Group InAntis, and conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the S. Moniuszko Music Schools Group in Łódź. A significant part of his activities includes contemporary and alternative music, as well as activities on the boundaries of various disciplines of art. He also conducts music workshops, which include the amateur Choir for the (Non) Resistant at the Łódź Philharmonic, the music part of the project “Generacje-kreacje” of the ABCXXI Foundation, “Cała Polska czyta dzieciom”, or the workshops “Zagraj w I, Culture Orchestra” organised by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
