Jabłoński Maciej
Born in 1974 in Golub-Dobrzyń (Lower Silesia). Between 1993 and 1998 he studied composition with Marek Stachowski at the Music Academy in Cracow, graduating with honours. Since 1998 he has been teaching music theory at the Cracow Academy, becoming lecturer in 2004. In 2002 he earned his first degree qualification.
He perfected his composition skills at international courses and masterclasses: the Young Composers Meeting in Apeldoorn, Netherlands (with Rodney Sherman, Robert H. P. Platz, Louis Andriessen, 1997), Summer Courses for New and Computer Music in Stuttgart and International Summer Courses in Radziejowice, Poland (with Peter-Michael Hamel, Alejandro Iglesias Rossi, Paul Patterson), summer workshops in Buckow (1998), as well as the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music (with Helmut Lachenmann and Georges Aperghis, 2006). His works are published by PWM Edition and the Music Academy in Cracow.
Maciej Jabłoński also works as a music communicator with children, notably at the Cracow Philharmonic where he runs special programmes and concerts for the young. He is also active as a music critic, contributing to magazines such as “Ruch Muzyczny” and “Glissando” (concert and recording reviews, essays). He has written numerous texts about contemporary music, particularly on Polish composers of the young generation; he has authored over 50 entries for the monumental PWM Music Encyclopedia. He is also the co-author of Concert Music Guide (Cracow: PWM 2003–04).
Since 2006 he has been a member of the Polish Composers’ Union.
