Tsangaris Manos
Born in 1956 in Düsseldorf. He studied composition and new music theatre with Mauricio Kagel and percussion in the class of Christoph Caskel at the Cologne Academy of Music. His compositions have been performed at such events as the Festival of New Chamber Music in Witten, International Theatre Festival in Belgrade, Musik-Biennale in Berlin, Biennale in Venice, Donaueschinger Musiktage, musica viva in Munich, and produced at opera theatres in Cologne, New York, Munich, Berlin, Dresden and Bielefeld. Since 1990 his installations and visual projects are regularly presented in international galleries. Authorial exhibitions of Tsangaris’ have been shown at the Diocesan Museum in the Archbishopric in Cologne and the Art Galery in Odense, Denmark. Since 1986 his poems have also been published by Thürmchen of Cologne and Radius of Stuttgart. He has toured extensively in Europe, North America and Asia. In 1991 he was invited to Moscow by the Russian Composers’ Union. In the same year he was awarded the scholarship of Bernd-Alois Zimmermann, followed by the Schloss Solitude scholarship (Stuttgart, 1993/94) and the prize of the Academy of Art in Berlin (1997). He has lectured at the summer academy in Civitella d’Agliano (Italy, 1991), Ny Musikk in Oslo and Stavanger (2002), KlangKunstBühne at Berlin’s Art Academy, the Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt (2004–2012) and as part of the European Centre of Art, in Dresden (2007–08). In 2009 he was given the title of professor by the Music Academy in Dresden. He is a member of the Academy of Art in Berlin (since 2009) and the Academy of Art of Saxony (since 2010).
