SCENATET

SCENATET is a young Copenhagen-based experimental ensemble, founded by Anna Berit Asp Christensen in 2008. The ensemble works in a field between contemporary music and conceptual art, often with a surprisingly non-instrumental, sensuous and bodily approach to exploring the relation between music, art, and people. 

The ensemble has appeared at festivals in Aarhus, Gong Tomorrow (Denmark), Transit in Leuven, Borealis in Oslo, Huddersfield, as well as the International Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt. 

Its album Almost in G (Col Legno) contains music by Christian Winther Christensen performed live at a Borealis Festival concert dedicated entirely to this composer in 2015. The ensemble has initiated a multimedia project based, among others, on Christensen’s earlier research on Wagner’s Parsifal and the karaoke technique. Its idea is to present the aesthetic of seduction or rather manipulation that modern technologies subject us to. SCENATET has also created a music spectacle entitled So spake Golem, with music composed by Kaj Duncan David, based on the theme and idea of Stanisław Lem’s novel Golem XIV, in which the protagonist is a supercomputer. 

In May this year at the Borealis Festival, SCENATET presented the composition Symphony for Twenty Rooms (1961) by Nam June Paik, and in June, composer Marta Śniady’s debut concert. Forthcoming is a tour featuring the work Nice Guys Win Twice by composer-performance artist Jessie Marino and video artist Constantin Basica.
