America Afterimaged - OpenEnded Group (Marc Downie, Paul Kaiser) and Jarosław Kapuściński

America Afterimaged is a meditation on the photographic image that conjures up the city of Detroit out of misty predawn darkness. The three-dimensional scenes often emerge gradually, like fragments of a dream, tentatively advancing in search of a perfect composition to coalesce within the frame. At other times, though, the imagery speeds by before abruptly alighting on a startling frame and then flickering forward in search of the next. The stopped frames are called forth by piano notes owing in a speculative, exploratory fashion occasionally approaching the American vernacular music of jazz.
