Majewska, Barbara Kinga

Musician, vocalist, performative artist born in Warsaw. She is the author of interdisciplinary research on the extramusical representations of singing and strategies of updating the traditions of vocal performance. With Michał Libera and Konrad Smoleński, she cocreates the CODEX SUBPARTUM. She is also the author of A Critical Guide to Interpreting Notation in Modern Vocal Music and the manifesto New Vocal Art in Contemporary Music. She has published articles in the Ruch Muzyczny monthly and Glissando magazine. She curates the TAL record series for Bôłt Records. She has performed at the Modern Art Museum in Warsaw, Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, Nowy Teatr International Culture Centre, Grand Theatre – National Opera in Warsaw, Berlin’s Konzerthaus, NOSPR, National Music Forum in Wrocław, TR Warszawa, Art Muzeum in Łódź, Witold Lutosławski Polish Radio Concert Studio, POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, Królikarnia Museum of Sculpture in Warsaw, National Museum in Warsaw, and during festivals such as Donaueschinger Musiktage, Warsaw Autumn, Sacrum Profanum, Sound Sanatorium, Nostalgia, Malta, Słuchy, Kwartesencja, Kwadrofonik, Musica Polonica Nova, Instalakcje, Warsaw Gallery Weekend, Klang, Jauna Muzika, and Musica Sanae.
