Krebber, Steffen

Born in 1976 in Stuttgart, he studied composition with Marco Stroppa and Caspar Johannes Walter at the State High School of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart and with Rebecca Saunders at the High School of Music and Dance in Cologne. His oeuvre encompasses instrumental and electronic works as well as works combining the art of sound and speech. He has held scholarships from the Akademie Schloss Solitude, K nstlerhof Schreyahn, Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and Bernd Alois Zimmermann Foundation of the City of Cologne. His works have been performed notably at the Gaudeamus Muziekweek, Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, blurred edges festival in Hamburg, New Talents – Cologne Biennial, Nachtstrom Basel, and Piano+ at ZKM Karlsruhe. His installations have been displayed notably at the Kölnischer Kunstverein and Akademie Schloss Solitude, and the installation Weissagungen is now part of the collection of the KOLUMBA Art Museum in Cologne. As a composer he has worked with many ensembles and performers, including Thürmchen Ensemble, Ensemble PRAESENZ, radikal translation, SONAR Quartett, hand werk, LUX:NM, Ensemble Garage, Ensemble ascolta, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, Manos Tsangaris, Truike van der Poel, Sabine Akiko Ahrendt, and Dirk Rothbrust. Since 2015 he has been a lecturer at the Institute of Art and Art Theory at the University of Cologne.
