Pękala, Miłosz
The Pękala|Kordylasińska|Pękala duo has been active on the Polish music scene since 2004 (formerly as the Hob-beats Percussion Duo). The Duo is inspired by many styles and trends, from transcriptions of earlier music through new and alternative up to noise music.
Miłosz Pękala is a vibraphone virtuoso and improviser, junior lecturer at the percussion class of the F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. Magdalena Kordylasińska plays the marimba and specialises in 20thand 21st-century chamber music. Together, they explore and discover new works for percussion, with a penchant for minimal music and broadly understood electroacoustic music.
They have worked with ensembles and musicians such as Percussions Claviers de Lyon, Steven Schick, Mitch&Mitch, and Felix Kubin. They have founded the Hob-beats Percussion Group for larger chamber music projects, and have won awards at several international competitions including the International Percussion Duo Competition (Luxembourg) and the Universal Marimba Competition (Belgium), appearing on concert stages throughout Poland and many other countries. With the pianists of the Lutosławski Piano Duo, they form the Kwadrofonik ensemble, specialising in modern music.
