(VRC CHOIR)

The VRC Choir is known for its concerts and events that combine music, theatre, performance, literature, and poetry. It was founded in 2009 by its present conductor Joanna Maluga, graduate of Fryderyk Chopin Music University in Warsaw and Ferenc Liszt Music Academy in Budapest, lecturer at the Music Academy in Bydgoszcz.

The direction VRC is led towards by Maluga results from her fascination with contemporary music and has been grounded by years of experience in masterclasses with Peter Erdei (Hungary), Ragnar Rasmussen (Norway), and Johannes Prinz (Austria).

VRC has premiered many comissions from Miłosz Bembinow (Lux Aeterna), Eunho Chang (Gra tti), Aleksandra Gryka (Piekło Nasze; |H_He|), Andrzej Karałow (Kołysanka skamandrycka), Jan Krutul (Kołysanka na ciemną noc), Adam Sławiński (Chmurka się uniża), Piotr Tabakiernik (monachomachia; Xopancuicatl), Artur Słotwiński (Księżycowy spacer), Kamil Staszowski (Msza człowieka współczesnego), and Ignacy Zalewski (Stojąc z daleka, Missa sine nomine).

The choir has appeared at festivals such as Codes in Lublin and Gorzkie Żale in Warsaw. It regularly cooperates with National Audiovisual Institute, Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Sinfonia Varsovia, Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, and National Museum in Warsaw.

The Choir's repertoire spans from Renaissance to contemporary music. It has also developed its own projects such as Body. Ado­ ration and Passion (for a capella choir), Between the Lines (for choir and piano), Good Night (for choir, percussion, Hammond keyboard and actress) or the Wake Up! concert-performance (for choir, flute, cello and percussion).
