Januchta, Tomasz
He studied the double bass with Kazimierz Jendrysiak and Andrzej Mysiński, graduating from the F. Chopin Music University in Warsaw. Winner of the 2nd prize in the National Double Bass Competition in Elbląg and an honourable mention in the A. B. Ciechański Double Bass Competition in Poznań. He plays the double bass in the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. He performs solo as well as in chamber ensembles, including Transemble String Quintet, Royal String Quartet, Meccore Quartet, Lutosławski Quartet, Chain Ensemble, Polish and foreign orchestras. As a chamber musician he has appeared at festivals such as the BBC Proms, Kwartesencja, Warsaw Autumn, Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival, Musica Polonica Nova, Chopin and His Europe, and Q'arto Mondi. He has also taught courses during the Princess Daisy Chamber Arts International Ensemble Festival. He composes and improvises music for films, theatre, and video art.
