Bojanowicz, Magdalena

She began her musical studies with Andrzej Orkisz before graduating with distinction from Andrzej Bauer's cello class at the F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw in 2010. She is now completing here postgraduate studies.

She has perfected her skills at masterclasses in Brussels, Salzburg, Pineswang, and Kronberg with cello masters such as Julius Berger, Philippe Muller, Claus Reichardt, Victoria Yagling, Kazimierz Michalik, and Arto Noras.

She has held scholarships from the National Children's Fund (2001-8) and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (on four occasions). In 2009 she won the prestigious Young Poland scholarship for a recording of Polish contemporary music (with Maciej Frąckiewicz). She took part in the My Talent for Poland event, organised by the President of Poland in 2006.

She has appeared as a soloist with the philharmonic orchestras of Warsaw, Rzeszów, Zielona Góra, Łódź, and Wrocław under conductors such as Tadeusz Wojciechowski, Jerzy Kosek, Michał Nesterowicz, and Paweł Przytocki.

Her accolades include the 1st Prize at the 20thand 21st-Century Music Competition for Young Performers (2005), 1st Prize at the International Cello Competition in Liezen (2006), 2nd Prize at the International Beethoven Cello Competition in Hradec Králové (2010), 2nd Prize and two special prizes at the International Witold Lutosławski Competition in Warsaw (2011), 3rd Prize at the 1st International Krzysztof Penderecki Cello Competition in Cracow (2008), and she was a semi nalist of prestigious cello competitions including the Gaspar Cassadó Competition in Tokyo (2009) and the Luis Sigall Competition in Chile (2011). She is a member of the Warsaw Cellonet group, led by Andrzej Bauer.
