Walentynowicz, Małgorzata

She graduated from the piano class of Bogdan Czapiewski at Music Academy in Gdańsk, the class of Gerritz Zitterbart at the High School of Music and Theatre in Hanover, and the High School of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart, where she obtained an honours degree in contemporary music performance after studies with Nicolas Hodges.

Currently she focuses on new music as a soloist, in ensembles (Ensemble Garage Cologne and LUX:NM Berlin), and with orchestras.

She increasingly takes part in projects with multimedia, performance art, and elements of music theatre. She has performed at festivals and venues such as Warsaw Autumn, MaerzMusik, Ultraschall in Berlin, 8 Bridges in Cologne, Wittener Tage fur̈ neue Kammermusik, ISCM World Music Days in Poland and Slovenia, Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt, Klangspuren in Schwaz, Spaziomusica in Cagliari, Musica Polonica Nova and Musica Electronica Nova in Wrocław, Cairo Contemporary Music Days, and Tzlil Meudcan Festival in Tel Aviv. She has performed in the Unites States on the invitation of the Harvard Group for New Music. As a soloist she has appeared notably with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, Polish Radio Orchestra, Sinfonia Iuventus, the New Music Orchestra, Illinois Modern Ensemble, and Neofonia Ensemble. Her interpretations have been released on CD's by Wergo, Bôłt Records, DUX.

She has held scholarships from the French government, Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Mayor of the City of Gdańsk, Fryderyk Chopin Society in Warsaw, and Alfred Toepfer Foundation in Hamburg.

She won the 1st Prize at the Gaudeamus Interpreters Competition in Amsterdam (2009) and 1st Prize at the Yvar Mikhasho Trust for New Music Competition in Buffalo (2010), as well as a performance award from the Summer Courses of New Music in Darmstadt. She has been nominated to the 2017 Classical:NEXT Innovation Award in Rotterdam.
