Rusowicz, Mateusz

Born in 1989 in Cracow, he graduated in trumpet and baroque trumpet before studying conducting in the class of Jerzy Katlewicz in Cracow. In 2013, he moved to Wrocław where he is currently studying in the class of Marek Pijarowski. He has participated in masterclasses with leading conductors including Colin Metters, Jacek Kaspszyk, and Gabriel Chmura.

As a trumpeter, he played in the European Workshop for Contemporary Music at Warsaw Autumn and the Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt. During the 2015 Courses, he was also the assistant of conductor Rüdiger Bohn, leading the premiere of Szymon Stanisław Strzelec's L'Atelier de sensorité. In 2014 he was the assistant of Marek Moś during the summer orchestral courses Music of Our Times in Inowrocław, where he conducted the performance of Grażyna Bacewicz's Concerto for string orchestra. With the Spółdzielnia Muzyczna Contemporary Ensemble, he has conducted works by Jarosław Płonka, Simon Steen-Andersen, Cezary Duchnowski, and Piotr Peszat, among others. He has directed Edgard Varèse's Ionisation and Sofia Gubaidulina's Sieben Worte at the Karol Lipiński Music Academy in Wrocław. Since 2014, he has been the conductor and manager of Spółdzielnia Muzyczna Contemporary Ensemble.
