A-cordeON -
Michał Moc

I was motivated to compose this work on one hand by my year-long fascination with the accordion, and on the other by the fact that despite a thirty-year history with that instrument, I have dedicated several miniatures, including my earliest works (written for my sister), to the... cello. Now, after several years of knowing the members of the TWOgether Duo, the opportunity has arisen to convey my new ideas to my young friends, whose mastery I have been observing with admiration: I trust they will decipher my personal emotions and energy directly and powerfully. At the same time, I do not even eschew sentimental associations: when I look and listen to TWOgether Duo, I feel they express me, play "my" ideas in a way I would play them - isn't it what composing is all about Of course, the title AcordeON is a pun, a mixed meaning: it would be tautological to further explain it. Let it resound!

AcordeON was commissioned by the Musical Aspirations Foundations within the "Collections. Compositional Commissions" programme of the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, run by the Institute of Music and Dance.
