Baticci, Alessandro

He currently continues his flute studies at the Vienna University of Music as well as on TransArt master’s degree at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
He has received many awards, including the 2nd prize at the Ernst Křenek Competition for Nightoughts and 6th prize at the international flute competition in Cracow. He is member and cofounder of The Black Page Orchestra, an ensemble for “radical and uncompromising music of our time.” As a freelance flutist, composer and electroacoustic performer, he is active internationally in the field of contemporary music and sound art. Engagements have taken him to Japan, Argentina, China, France, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Austria, among others, performing at leading venues and festivals such as Salzburg, Darmstadt, WienModern, Vienna Festival, Klangspuren, Rondó, IRCAM, Vienna’s Musikverein and Konzerthaus, and ORF’s Radiokulturhaus.
His dedication to contemporary music led him not only to cooperations with composers such as Beat Furrer, Tristan Murail, Salvatore Sciarrino, and Brian Ferneyhough but also to an intensive activity in the field of sound installations, performative art and electroacoustic composition. His inventive approach pushed him to develop electroacoustic instruments, digital control, and mapping instruments as well as sound solutions for winds (woodify).
