Kusiel-Moroz, Krzysztof
He studied orchestra and opera conducting with Stanisław Wisłocki at the Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw, graduating in 1990. He also studied choral conducting with Ryszard Zimak. He has since taught choral conducting and directed vocal and instrumental ensembles at the Fryderyk Chopin Music University in Warsaw where he is now a professor at the Department of Choir Conducting, Music Education, Church Music, Rhythmics and Dance as well as the director of the Mixed Choir. In 2003–5 he headed the Chair of Choral Conducting.
In 1994–99 he was the artistic director of the Harfa Men’s Choir. Since 1990 he is the conductor and artistic director of Warsaw Boys’ Choir, with which he has made successful appearances in Poland and abroad. He has conducted Polish orchestras such as the Warsaw, Bydgoszcz, Opole, and Białystok philharmonics, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia, Sinfonia Iuventus, Fryderyk Chopin Music University Orchestra, as well as Kristiansand Symphony, Oldenburger Ratsmusik, and Japan Youth Orchestra.
As a choirmaster Krzysztof Kusiel-Moroz has frequently appeared at the Wratislavia Cantans festival as well as Darmstadt, Passau, Hamburg, Oldenburg, Bremen, The Hague, Gouda, Antwerp, Luxembourg, Festival de La Chaise-Dieu (1998). He has also given concerts in Lithuania, Latvia, Japan, China, and the United States. Many of his concerts have been broadcast on TV and the radio.
As music promoter, Krzysztof Kusiel-Moroz initiated such events as the Passion Music Days in Warsaw, Pro Defunctis Triduum of Funeral Music, and Musica Temporis Adventus festival. As long-time President of the Warsaw Boys’ Choir Foundation, during the last 15 years he has organised regular music education programmes for more than 1,500 children from Warsaw. Many graduates of his classes joined the Warsaw Boys’ Choir, and all have developed a lasting passion for music. Krzysztof Kusiel-Moroz has served on the juries of many national and international choral and conducting competitions. As a teacher he is involved in numerous community projects for children, teenagers and senior citizens. He conducts singing workshops for choirs within the Singing Poland project, as well as for local Christian congregations, centres of culture, and universities of the third age. Krzysztof Kusiel-Moroz is also a composer.
