Kazimierz Serocki (1922–81) – forgotten Polish modernist
Promotion of Adam Kośmieja CD: Serocki – Complete Works for Solo Piano
Host: Ewa Szczecińska (Polish Radio, Channel 2)
The meeting will host pianist Adam Kośmieja, a leading exponent of the music of Kazimierz Serocki. At 2014 Warsaw Autumn, Kośmieja performed the solo part of Pianophonie. For his CD published this year by DUX, he recorded Serocki’s complete piano works: the Sonata (1955), a valid competitor to Prokofiev’s No. 7; Gnomes, a cycle of miniatures for children (1953); Prelude Suite, ultramodern music from the era of Socialist realism (1952); and the sonoristic open-form composition A piacere (1963).
