Maciejewska, Magdalena
Stage designer and costume supervisor, she graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology and the Chair of Stage Design, Faculty of Interior Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1986). She regularly cooperates with directors such as Agnieszka Glińska (Horváth’s Tales from the Vienna Woods, 1998; Hrabal’s Bambini di Praga, 2001; Zelenka’s Tales of Ordinary Madness, 2005; Auster’s Lulu on the Bridge, 2008; Chekhov’s A Story Without a Title, 2009; Masłowska’s Couple of Poor, Polish-Speaking Romanians, 2013; Chekhov’s The Seagull, 2010; Gombrowicz’s Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy, 2014), Grzegorz Jarzyna (Fredro’s Magnetism of the Heart, 1999; Vinterberg and Rukov’s Festen, 2001; Mozart / Molière’s Don Giovanni, 2006; Pasolini’s Teorema, 2009; Masłowska’s No Matter How Hard We Tried, 2009; Nosferatu after Bram Stoker, 2012), as well as Paweł Miśkiewicz, Krystyna Janda, Artur Urbański, Krystian Lupa, Piotr Cieplak, Przemysław Wojcieszek, Natalia Korczakowska, and Anna Smolar. As film set and costume designer she has cooperated with film directors such as Andrzej Żuławski, Mariusz Treliński, Filip Zylber, Jacek Borcuch, and Łukasz Barczyk. Magdalena Maciejewska’s costumes for Wojciech Smarzowski’s The Wedding were awarded at the Gdynia Film Festival in 2004. Her theatrical designs have been awarded, among others, at the Opole Theatre Confrontations and the Divine Comedy International Theatre Festival in Cracow.
