I wrote the single-movement Improvisations sonoristiques for clarinet, trombone, cello and piano at the request of Zygmunt Krauze in January 1968, to be performed by his ensemble Music Workshop. The work lasts about 10 minutes. It was premiered on 22 February 1968 at the Royal College of Art in London by the Music Workshop.
