Discussion: A Grown-up Talk about Music-Making Children

Children, usually trivialised creatures previously left on the margins of “adult” artistic life, are now making a significant entry into the so-called philharmonic culture, or, more generally, into contemporary art of various provenance. Let us look at the child’s position in contemporary music, education, performance art, and the culture of listening. Our outlook will be far from childish—it will be serious and broadly conceived. This issue has become especially topical in the context of dynamically developing projects such as Little Warsaw Autumn. The topic is also addressed in the latest 27th issue of the Glissando magazine, dedicated to THE CHILD.
