Gonter, David

Born in 1984 in Frankfurt am Main. He studied visual communication, majoring in set and costume design at the University of Art and Design in Offenbach. Since 2009 he works as a freelance set and costume designer for the theatre, music theatre and film, collaborating with directors such as Laura Linnenbaum, Philipp Preuss, Benedikt von Peter, Pedro Martins Beja, Anette Pullen, Julia von Sell, Alexander May, and Alexander Frank. He worked at the Frankfurt’s Mousonturm Theatre, Darmstadt State Theatre, Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Heidelberg Theatre, Junges Ensemble Stuttgart, and Osnabrück Theatre, among others. His recent projects include Heiner Müller’s Leben Grundlings, Theodor Storm’s Der Schimmelreiter and Die Leiden des jungen Werthers at the Osnabrück Theatre, as well as Laura Linnenbaum’s Sylvia Plath project Silent Noise at the Frankfurt Theatre and Nolte Decar’s Das Tierreich at the Darmstadt State Theatre. He is currently working on Monteverdi’s opera L’Incoronazione di Poppea at the Pforzheim Theatre and on a multiscreen display installation entitled Blue Screen Velvet
