Liu, Le

is a renowned Chinese guzheng virtuoso, professor at the Department of Chinese Traditional Instruments of the Wuhan Conservatory of Music. He has garnered praise for his remarkable performance technique and musical expression. His accolades includes the prestigious Golden Bell Award, main prizes at the CCTV Music Competition, Dunhuang National Music Contest, Shanghai Spring Festival, and other domestic and international music events. He is the only musician to have been included in the Top Ten Guzheng Virtuosos in China for three years in a row (2012–14).
As one of China’s leading traditional musicians, he has held more than 150 solo concerts around the world, and has performed guzheng concertos with over twenty orchestras from different countries, including Radio France Philharmonic, Berlin Radio Symphony, Gothenburg Symphony, Aarhus Symphony, China Philharmonic, China Central Opera House Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony, Singapore Symphony, and many others.
Liu is dedicated to exploring new opportunities to bring the guzheng onto the international stage. He has produced many works combining the guzheng with Western instruments, creating new musical styles and adding depth to the guzheng repertoire. He has premiered over fifteen solo and concert works for the guzheng, and has himself composed numerous solo and three chamber works.
